Many women have found that special menopause diets can minimize the symptoms of menopause and make the change of life transition much easier and smoother. Menopause diets are a good alternative to prescribed medication and are good for those who worry about adverse side effects. Most all gynecologists recommend that women who are in their pre-menopause stages adopt a menopause diet and stay on it throughout the transition to reduce stress, reduce symptoms, and to ensure good health.

Black cohosh is one highly recommended herb to add to a menopause diet. Gynecologists urge that women begin using black cohosh for treatment of hot flashes. This herb is quite powerful and shouldn’t be used any longer than six months. If used any longer than this, although there is no exact effects determined, there could be unknown side effects.

Japanese women intake a greater amount of soy in their everyday diet, and they are only 30% as likely to complain of menopause symptoms as women in the United States and other parts of the world. Soy includes estrogen like substances that are often used in menopause diets to help with hot flashes. The best way to take soy is through soymilk or tofu.

There are some things that, unfortunately, are a large part of most everyone’s diet and are hard habits to break. However, these foods have adverse effects and can make menopause symptoms worse. Some of these are tea, alcohol, coffee, spicy food, soft drinks (with caffeine), and smoking. Try and keep high-calorie, sweet junk food to a minimum and eat as little of these as possible.

The main food experts recommend for menopause diets are fruits and vegetables, basically just eating healthy. Boost your intake of fruits such as melons, oranges, and lemons. Potassium, found in bananas, helps with women who retain water. Good vegetables are dark leafy vegetables like collard greens, spinach, cabbage, broccoli, peppers, and tomatoes. Regular fiber intake is also a healthy part of menopause dieting.

Instead of fried foods, try and stick to food that is broiled or baked. Instead of white bread and white rice eat more whole grains, like oats, rye bread, and brown rice. Try not to eat as many regular potatoes, but rather opt for sweet potatoes or pasta. Other good things to add to your everyday diet include, oily fish like mackerel or salmon, nuts, seeds, dried fruit, and unprocessed oils for cooking. Other foods that are not so conventional but are recommended are different types of seaweed (ask at your local health food store) like Nori, Kombu, Arame, and Wakame.

A well balanced, nutritious, healthy diet will help reduce symptoms and achieve optimum health in women. The key is to incorporate as many natural foods into your menopause diet as possible.

Reports show that over 90 percent of all adolescents and almost 25 percent of all adults are acne sufferers. And although acne affects about 50 percent of all adult women, acne does affect males and females worldwide, regardless of nationality.

This article includes information based upon research about acne. It strives to help clear up myths from facts and present an overview of the issues surrounding acne along with possible solutions available to help with the prevention and treatment of acne, all based upon the most recent studies, and findings available, so that you can learn more acne health care.

For example, does chocolate really cause pimples? And how about oily foods? Do French fries bring on the acne? The latest reports show that although scientific evidence is not 100% accurate in this area, your diet does not directly cause acne. And by diet, this means not only chocolate and French fries, but also any other dietary combinations with sugar and oil or other ingredients.
The real cause of acne can actually be a blend of several factors that we’ll discuss here. Note that the contents here are not presented from a medical practitioner, and that any and all health care planning should be made under the guidance of your own medical and health practitioners. The content within only presents an overview of acne research for educational purposes and does not replace medical advice from a professional physician.

Let’s take a look at some other popular beliefs about acne to dispel any other rumors; for example, stress.

1.Is it true that increased stress spreads acne? Not exactly. What is true is that ultimately stress can have a very minimal or minor influence all by itself. It cannot actually cause acne, but it can influence reoccurrences of acne as stress increases the body’s creation of a substance called cortisol that in turn causes your sebaceous glands to produce increased amounts of sebum oil that can be blocked in pores. Note, however, that some medications people take when trying to deal with or treat stress can have a large influence on acne as the result of medication side effects.

2.Acne is contagious, true or false? Not! No one can “catch” acne; it is non-communicable.

3.You’ll outgrow acne, so just leave it along; myth or truth? This is false. Acne strikes all ages and is treatable, but shouldn’t be left alone to possibly worsen.

4.Being out in the sun helps acne, right? In the long run, no. The sun may appear to help clear up your blemishes and redden your skin, thus lessening the overall reddish effect of the targeted acne area when it was outstanding. However, rays from the sun can cause skin damage and actually irritate skin more, worsening any existing acne problems in the process and clogging more pores as skin cells dry up and slough off quicker than normal. So use caution (and sunscreen) here!

5.Sweating helps clean out your hair follicle areas, myth or reality? Another myth. In reality, strenuous activity can temporarily increase your body’s oil production that can actually worsen acne problem areas, causing recurrence or intensification.

6.Acne problems are directly proportionate to sexual activity, or lack thereof; true or false? False, another myth. Just because teenagers are going through hormonal changes, does not mean that this has anything to do with acne. Both are separate issues. Same with adult acne and sex; two entirely different issues.

7.People with acne are dirty and don’t wash enough. Not! This is another myth. Acne is the result of a build up of oil, dead skin cells and bacteria in a closed pore. Period. Dirt is not even a factor in the equation.

8.Acne is only on external issue or surface deep; i.e. people shouldn’t make such a big thing out of it, myth or reality? Myth. In reality, yes, it basically is only on your skin (and underneath the surface a little bit). However, the effects run much more deeper than that in many instances. More than 50 percent of those suffering acne problems reported negative comments and other feedback from members of society, regardless of whether or not there was any scarring left for others to see afterwards. And resulting internal depression and low self-esteem can be harmful emotionally not only short-term but over a person’s lifetime. So acne can indeed be a very big issue requiring healthcare treatment and support.

8.OK, myth or reality: there is a cure for acne? Myth. Although there is no cure at this time, there are many treatments available that do a great job. As the saying goes, “Prevention is the best medicine;” however, there is no need to suffer in silence with all the options available on the market today for all price ranges.

9.Certain cosmetics or spot treatments will help acne, myth or reality? Myth again. By the time a blemish appears, it has been in the works for a good couple of weeks.

10.Myth or not: people with acne should not use moisturizers or other make-up products on their faces? Myth! Today there are many noncomedogenic cosmetics out there specially formulated to NOT clog pores.

Small Business Accounting 101

If you are in business, then guess what you are either an accountant by default or you need to hire one. Why? People ask that question while letting the year roll by until taxes come due. Oh no! Why do I have penalties?

Simple, you are not an accountant and you should have hired on. So the first rule of business accounting is to hire one if you are not one. Second rule of business accounting is to hire an accountant to review your accounting before filing taxes.

Most individuals starting a business are unaware that the filing deadlines for corporations and small businesses are different from personal filings. While personal income tax returns are due in April. Corporate and business tax returns are due in March. His often leads to many late fees and so forth associated with late filing penalties.

Keeping good records is another concern for most new business owners starting out. Many new business owners do not understand the tax code and do not understand what can be written off as an expense and what cannot be written off as an expense. These small errors will also lead to penalties and additional fees associated with your filings.

Make sure to keep all receipts or online order forms for later reference and keep them organized. There is nothing worse than the end of the year sorting festival. Receipts get lost and records can be incomplete if not taken seriously. Do under estimate the power of organization and the process of organizing your records. Keep them tight!

Giving to charity must also be carefully monitored and accounted for by both parties. The philanthropist and the charity should both get a receipt and have good records. If you give time then keep good logs of your time and have the charity you donate to accept and sign for your log. You need a receipt!

Warning! Take great care not to fabricate or provide false deduction information. If you claim a deduction make sure your records are in order and you are prepared to be questioned if such questions arise. The practice of over filing expenses with the federal government and fabrication of records is a federal offense and can carry legal ramifications beyond penalties and fines.

In fact you can be imprisoned for fabrication of any information regarding your taxes. Going to prison for bad record keeping? Now that is a bad way to end a fiscal year.

Keeping track of money coming in is as much of an issue as keeping track of money going out. Simple bank statement preservation can go a long way to keeping things on track for your new business. Keep them in a “safe” place preferably a fire proof safe if possible. Remember all the responsibility rests squarely on your shoulders no on else’s. The federal government does not care if your building burns to the ground before the tax year is over. You are still responsible for your taxes and the ramifications for not filing can be expensive ones.

Good accounting software should be your first stop if you plan to keep you own accounting records. There are several packages out there some are expensive and some a cheap. Pick one that meets your needs best not the biggest just because it appears to be the most expensive or the one with the most features. Remember, you have to learn how it works in order to keep good records. So keep in mind your own personal limitations when purchasing accounting software.

Finally, if you accept cash then document the transaction with a receipt. Never take cash without a receipt and always claim your cash receipts at the end of the year. After all, the greatest Mafia bosses and organized criminals of our time were not prosecuted for murder or the other hideous crimes they were in charge of. They were imprisoned for not filing taxes on cash receipts.

A good accountant can help you to avoid penalties and over taxation. Hire one they are worth every penny in the long run.

The Equation: A 5-Step Program for Lifelong Fitness

The Equation: A 5-Step Program for Lifelong Fitness Dan Isaacson has studied the “energy balance” that is constantly at work within the human body and has developed specific guidelines for living a healthier life based on that dynamic.Already featured in Parade and Rolling Stone and implemented by too many celebrities to name, Isaacson’s “Equation” provides both the inspiration and the techniques with which people can improve their appearance, their health, and their lives. It includes: * Finding the right balance of input to output-a personal fi…
Customer Review: Something I Understand
This book was recommended to me by a friend. I was skeptical about the practicality of the “minimal effort = maximum weight loss” plan that is stated on the cover. But this book is not about minimal effort or maximum weight loss. It’s about a practical approach to developing and maintaining a lifestyle that will result in a heathier body. Isaacson and his co-authors provide details and specific guidelines for a simple, logical plan of diet and exercise that even I have been able to follow.
Customer Review: Extremely
This book is different from any diet book I’ve ever read (and I’ve read them all). It emphasizes small changes for slow, long-term weight loss. This isn’t a quick fix. Each week you add one small change to your eating – for example, in the first week, you’re to drink 16oz of water every few hours. The second week you add another small diet or activity change and so on.

What I love about this approach is that there are no forbidden foods, and you choose how much you want to lose as well as the…

Learning Accounting: Debit and Credit Basics

When learning accounting for the first time, the terms debit and credit can be a bit confusing. Why? Because when you go to the bank and deposit money, the teller will tell you, I am crediting your account X amount of dollars, but if you are taking money our of your account, the teller will tell you, I am debiting your account X amount of dollars. Also, with debit machines all over the place, and credit cards in everyone s pocket, the two accounting terms take on a whole new meaning.

However, what we ve learned about these two words so important in the accounting world, debit and credit, have to be unlearned quickly. Why? Because in accounting, the term debit is used to describe a bank account and that money owed are actually credit accounts the exact opposite of what we ve been taught elsewhere.

In accounting terms, neither credits nor debits are bad , but they need to equal each other in order to balance themselves out in the end. Every itemized transaction, no matter if it s a deposit or a bill to be paid has both a debit and credit posted in the accounting world. This is what is called double-entry accounting so when you go to the bank, and the teller says, I am crediting your account X amount of dollars, she is also debiting an entry of a similar amount without telling you this. The same goes for when the teller tells you, I am debiting your account X amount of dollars, the accounting will show that a credit of the same amount is being made elsewhere at the same time.

The easiest way to figure out debits and credits in accounting terms is to figure out the following: what did you receive, and where did it come from. The debit is what you received, and the credit is where you received it from, in accounting terms. So for demonstration sake, let s say you bought a CD with your credit card. The CD is what you got, so it will be a debit in the accounting world, and the credit will be applied to the liability you carry on your credit card for the exact same amount.

The bank can easily confuse people learning about credits and debits in the accounting sense of the words, especially when discussing liability. For instance, when you put money in the bank, the bank s liability to you increases, and since liabilities are credits, they are crediting your account (in accounting terms). And when the bank lowers their liability to us (by us taking money out of the bank) the banks are debiting the liability account, from an accounting perspective.

Basically it comes down to being able to figure out what you got and where exactly it came from; if you can figure these out for every transaction, then you ve got the accounting terms of credit and debit down pat.

Customer Review: Well Suited for a Journal
The book is perfect if you’d like to track your gains and progress. Highly recommended.
Customer Review: Best training log ever!
This training log is the absolute best I have ever purchased. In the past I have used Weider’s Log, M&F Hers Log, and The Ultimate Workout Log. The Ultimate Workout Log was poorly bound with comb-binding and didn’t hold up well. That is what led me to try Bodyminder’s. It is bound well with nylon spiral binding. Nice thick faux-leather cover, a transparent pocket inside the back to store misc. papers (I tuck my pencil in there). Each day is a two-page spread with a myriad of choices. Ther…

Data Mining And Modelling

The important processes that have to be clearly delineated for Data Mining, Analysis and Modelling are:

Data model: what data will be available and how will it flow? Data gathering: how will data be gathered both in physical and technological terms? Data gathered: what data will be gathered? Data types: what types of data will be gathered? Data formatting: how will data be held? Data warehousing: where will data be held? Data mining: how will we retrieve data from the warehouse? Information modelling: how will we create models and what of? Information access: how will we access the data models and reports? Presentation & reporting: on what will we report?

Most companies want to know essential information about customers at every point of contact, for example:

Lifetime value X sell and upgrade potential Acquisition cost Channel preferences Loyalty/retention Purchase behaviour patterns

Much of the data that they have will have different frequencies of change, refreshment or occurrence. It will be kept for different periods. In some cases, aggregated data may be kept rather than source data. All of these factors effect the data modelling exercise and the eventual modelling software requirements.

Turning the data into useful information requires:

Identifying the issue(s) Assembling the data set(s) Building models Verify models Interpretation of the results Automation of the delivery

Thereafter, modelling tools and techniques have to be used. These can be divided into two groups: theory driven and data driven.

Theory driven modelling (hypothesis testing) attempts to substantiate or disprove preconceived ideas. Theory driven modelling tools require the user to specify most of the model based on prior knowledge and then tests to see if the model is valid.

Data driven modelling tools automatically create the model based on patterns they find in the data. This also needs to be tested before it can be accepted as valid.

Modelling is an iterative process with the final model usually being a combination of prior knowledge and newly discovered information. The engine(s) tools and techniques include:

Statistical techniques Data driven tools Correlation Cluster analysis t-tests Factor analysis Analysis of Variance CHAID (Chi-square Automatic Interaction Detector) decision trees Linear regression Visualisation tools Logistic regression Neural networks Discriminant analysis
